Zara Larsson, the famous Swedish pop singer, is angry as she revealed that she couldn’t meet her boyfriend because he had what she describes as a minor, non-violent drug offense of marijuana possession.
“I love immigrants, I love criminals, I love trans people, I love abortion, I love gays, I love women, I love contraception, I love welfare, I love socialism, I hate ICE,” she wrote a lengthy note on Instagram Stories, starting with several provocative political statements.
Then, in another post, the Lush Life hitmaker explains the reasoning behind her first post, saying fans have been texting her for more details.
She said strict immigration policies prevented her boyfriend from entering the United States for years because he had a criminal record.
“People in my DM are like ‘Ahh, criminals?!?!?!’” Yes girl, heavy on this, the reason my sweet, loving, kind, caring, compassionate, smart, generous, talented, thoughtful man can’t come to the US – ever – to visit me since we got together almost 6 years ago is because he has a criminal record.
But Zara adds that the crime he was charged with was a simple matter of possession of cannabis, which saw them spend time apart for several months.
“Guess what! Weed! Ha ha ha ha ha like?? Who gives af****** f***?!? In fact, correction! He had a record. It’s been so long since he smoked that smoke that it’s officially gone from his name and yet he still can’t get in. We spend months and months away every year due to a little smoking over 6 years ago.”
The 28-year-old also suggests that cannabis use should be legal, and claims that these policies have greatly impacted the Brown and Black community.
I’m not saying it should be legal… wait… yes I am – but that’s another conversation. “I’m just saying there are thousands and thousands of people who go to prison for non-violent crimes like drugs, mostly black people and people of color because of Ronald Reagan being a racist in the 80s and fucking communities.”
“I wonder about that but I’d rather have someone smoking on my couch than an ICE agent ewwwwwwwwww. They’re criminals too. They kill, they kidnap, they’re violent, they’re hateful,” she concluded.
It is worth noting that Zara has been dating Swedish dancer Lamine Holmen since 2020.
