White House Press Secretary Carolyn Leavitt announced Friday that she and her husband are expecting their second child in May.

“Greatest Christmas gift we could ever ask for — a baby girl coming in May 2026,” Leavitt, 28, wrote in an Instagram caption on Friday alongside photos of herself and her ultrasound next to a Christmas tree.

The press secretary added: “My husband and I are thrilled to grow our family and can’t wait to see our son become a big brother. My heart is overflowing with gratitude to God for the blessing of motherhood, which I truly believe is the closest thing to heaven on earth.”

Levitt’s first child was born to her husband, Nicholas Riccio July 2024Months before Donald Trump is re-elected president in November. The baby is named after his father, but his nickname is Nico.

Levitt and her husband of 60 years met in 2022 when she ran unsuccessfully for Congress in New Hampshire.

“It’s unbelievable. He’s my greatest supporter,” Levitt told Megyn Kelly. He’s my best friend. He’s my rock.” On her podcast Earlier this year.

“He fully supports me in building my success in my career, and of course he is the father of my child,” Levitt added in the February podcast episode. “And he is the best father I could ever ask for, and very supportive especially during this very chaotic time of life.”

A White House spokesperson did not immediately respond to NBC News’ questions about whether Leavitt plans to take maternity leave after her daughter is born and whether anyone would replace her if she did.
