When Rob Reiner deleted his social media account due to political views

As soon as news of the tragic death of Rob Reiner and his wife surfaced online, hundreds of people reacted to the X account (on Twitter) believing it belonged to the late actor and director.

However, it is known that the actor deleted his account which had over 2.3 million views due to his political views after Donald Trump won the November 2024 presidential election.

Rob Reiner and his wife were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Sunday, and police are investigating the circumstances as an apparent homicide, authorities said.

The actor and director was a long-time supporter of the Democratic Party and his tragic death sparked a question response from former President Barack Obama.

More than 2.1 million people viewed Obama X’s post to mourn the death of Rob Reiner and his wife within two hours.

While police refused to publicly reveal the identity of the two people found dead, both Mayor Karen Bass and California Governor Gavin Newsom issued statements confirming the deaths of Reiner, 78, and his wife, Michelle, 68.

“This is a devastating loss to our city and our country,” the mayor wrote. “Rob Reiner’s contributions resonate throughout American culture and society, and he has improved the lives of countless people through his creative work and fight for social and economic justice.”

The Los Angeles Police Department issued a statement on social media calling the case an “apparent homicide.” Police had not detained anyone for questioning and had not identified any suspects as of Sunday evening, Deputy Police Chief Alan Hamilton told a news conference.

Los Angeles Police Department patrol officers dispatched to the home late Sunday afternoon discovered two bodies inside the home. A city fire department official said earlier that emergency personnel first responded to the call for medical assistance.
