About a million migrants were poured into Germany in 2015. Chancellor Merkel has constantly defended her pro -refugee policies, but now she was punished by voters who believed to have ignored their concerns.
Chancellor Merkel promised to listen to the people who voted in favor of AFD, and says she will try to win them with what she calls good policy. But she will not put the party in her alliance.
But the counselor needs to find new partners ready to be harsh in immigration.
While trying to formulate a coalition, the chancellor agreed to put an annual limit of 200,000 on the number of immigrants, which was previously refused to do. But will it be enough to support the people who escaped in the elections?
Question for Werner Patzelt, a political scientist at Dresden University.
