Corruption alert: This story contains spoilers for season 3, episode 7 of “” “White Lotus“Now it flows to the maximum.
One of the main conflicts in this season from “The White Lotus” – a conflict that no one has known until it was happening – had finally reached his head.
Rick Hachtit (Walton Gugs) came to the White Lotus in Thailand to confront and kill Jim Holinger (Scott Glen), who owns the hotel with his wife, Sri Lake (Lake Patravadi); When you learn that Jim was transferred to the hospital in Bangkok after a stroke, Rick left his girlfriend (Amy Le Wood) at the hotel for recent revenge. Rick believes that his father was killed by Jim, based on something that his mother said to him before her death. His father did not meet at all, and this absence was suspended, as well as the presence of Jim, who is waving on the horizon, throughout his life.

Did Jim killed? Well, no. After entering Jim’s house as part of a trick he recruited by his former parachute colleague, Frank (Sam Rokwell), Rick got Jim alone and faced him, and eventually decided to knock on the chair in which Jim was sitting, and pushed him to the ground, instead of shooting him. This second to the last episode of the season puts Rick for the new revelation: Goggins said, Rick, after he now dealt with “Bogeyman” who was chasing his mind since childhood, “He witnessed” a 53 -year -old version. ” With immorality, on a sofa, he does not participate, however, is still euphoria, his smile is a testimony for what he achieved, even without pulling blood.
It is an emotional trip for one episode. Goghins, who has not yet spoken to anyone since he was gunfire, has been cultivated both moving and tears during the discussion, especially as he remembers the months of expecting to meet the enemy of his personality – with a warning that Rick will be released from his anger.
Speak with Goggins, a TV warrior with credits ranging from “justification” to “Fallout” diverse Before broadcasting episode 7 to discuss what it takes to derive this smile, and work with the creator Mike White, why criticized Rick’s relationship with Chelsea “boring” – and what was the case in shooting at the most viral scene in the season opposite his close friend Rocwell.
How long did it take to photograph your confrontation with the character of Scott Glenn? Was everything in one night?
I think it is important to understand that I have read all these texts early. I don’t know if you are the first to be appointed, but I was very close to him. I read almost textual programs the way Mike wrote to them, in a dream dream – over a trip from Los Angeles to New York and then directly to my apartment, and all ended them in one night. When I got to this episode, I knew that she was heading there – this final confrontation with this man who determined my life. It was my Mount Everest – my world end. It would take a long time to reach the smile he spent at the end of the show.

We will reach that.
To answer your question, so that you can determine the time you decided with this, which was the best part of nine months, we did this confrontation within one night. The half of the night – we were filming something during the day – and I would never forget it. I was in such a case, personally, Sam was working with me, and I felt comfortable with him. I really need it. He saw the country where I was, and said: “You are fine, my friend. These were very wise words from a dear friend.
I just asked for 20 minutes of the head before we start. I am going to this [in character] I do not know if I was to kill this man or not or hit the shit from him, then it turns out that I just kicked him on a chair, because this is all that he really deserves. All the authority he had over me had recovered from me at that moment, and I saw him for whom it was.
Was what was overwhelming for you at this moment when you were sitting with this scene in mind for several months, and building it with anticipation?
For me, he approached me a number of levels, just as for anyone – we are all shocking in our lives. That was the night in which I, Walon Gugs, who played Rick Hachtit, faced Scott Glenn, and Jim Holinger played. So, yes – the bubble was ready for the explosion. Something will happen. This is what you do for him. The expectation was within a period of nine months to conduct this conversation and not know exactly where it would lead.

It is interesting to hear this in the context of the episode, because with Rick and Frank entering the house, Sam is as calm as possible, while you were practically paralyzed.
Frank has no history with this. He offers me a favor as a friend. I told him out of the camera what this means for me. These two people think they are unable to have an intimate relationship and they are more intimate and more vulnerable than anyone else in a ridiculous “white lotus”. This is what ironic about the relationship between these two men.
What you took – if you can imagine that your whole life is specific through an individual event, your subsequent journey was a reaction to this story that determined your life. The person in charge of writing the text program that I starred, suddenly, directly in front of me. To use a religious metaphor, is the Vatican real, if you are a Catholic, until you stand in front of it, while you are in awe? This is my consisting, but he is also the dreaded hero. It is all that. He is so much that he is so much that it took me a moment to completely understand that this person is already exist, and I am standing in front of him. This was what was for me.
This makes it interesting that Rick decides not to kill him, when he has a clear opportunity.
I am dealing with shaking now. I haven’t thought about it for a long time. Going out of the boat at the end of episode 6, and seeing it for the first time through Rick’s eyes – I just remember sitting there, and looked at the features on his face, and passes through every moment this person was in a flexible room with me for 53 years. How was his life? What was he doing when I was shot at the dreaded heroin, when I was the most like on cocaine from the boobs? Was he had dinner? This man has a beautiful life – he created something great. It is Stockholm syndrome – who I am without it?
Given that your personality never knew his father – this is an older man, and a person identified his life.
exactly. Both in [his life] Psychologically, spiritually, but absent, physically. We did the scene only three times. After the second seizure, I said, “Can we go immediately?” Every person who came back to him, and was one of those moments for which we live, to believe that this was happening. I wanted him to hear what I should say – and I do not know whether his inability to remember or understand it, but my struggles never expressed his opinion.

While everything was for you.
Yes, and when he wanders around the table, he is just … “You are a weak old man. What is the power you really have? Suddenly, there is no Bogman. If all the doors are opened, there is no cabinet that a cabinet can hide. All he was carrying, he left his body and went. I felt this way for me, and out of a ridiculous room – nine months weight was raised. Peace that has just entered his life, it is a ridiculous foreign feeling for him.
Even this point, he had Chelsea, who was completely dedicated to him, not harsh on Rick, but as a partner, tinn. He was very associated that he did not recognize or see it.
I heard it, and this is just a ridiculous boring. What I mean is that you see their relationship at the present time when Mike decided to write the story, right? So this is not fair. I did not deal with it for three years. We spent a great time, we commented, and we made abundant amounts of drugs, and we had a lot of fun. It was sometimes sufficient, but there is a deep and profound companion quality for their experience, and they love each other and love each other dearly, whether Rick can transfer him at this moment, because he is obsessed individually, with this person who determined his entire existence.
You have this obsessed person and unable to rewrite his story – he fell in love with his life story, because everyone needs an identity. Then you have this person telling him that you can rise above him, and I love you for who you are. It is really beautiful.

Sam Rokuel at “The White Lotus”
HBO/Max
I believed that the scene in episode 5, where the character of Sam Rokuel did not spoil himself from his sexual desires, was really impressive, because it took a very skilled actor to transfer active listening and attendance. How was this like shooting?
Sam is one of my best friends, and the opportunity to go to this experience was a dream. We did one thing on the previous day, but [the next day] It was our first thing, and you have two people who love each other and trust each other – there is no barrier. There is nothing that hinders you from real weakness. The first words we talked about, it’s like, “I got to you. Go to any place you want to go to.” I mean that, because there are a number of repetitions for that story, and there are a number of ways to listen to that story. It was immersed with confidence and unpopular love. Once you feel with someone, you never have to talk about it. It is only there.
Well, it was my pleasure, but we are in time, so I must let you go –
We have to get to a smile, man! Take me through your experience, when you don’t know what will happen.
When watching Rick, Jim knocked instead of killing him, I thought Rick would end up disappointed – that he would feel that it was the right thing to do, but he did not get this vent. And I was wrong! Because I saw him running out of there as a student, it looks like a child again, which is exactly your point of view. He can live his entire life again, edited by what he was carrying with him.
The way they behave together on the street – Which – which Is there really Rick, right? This is the one who is, on the other side of dealing with shock. This is a launch of 53 years of pain. We did that [camera] Push [on Rick’s smile] Four times, just the issue of obtaining it correctly. I am sitting there on the sofa, and it was an experience outside the body for your rick. He was deep spiritual and communicated with God, because peace and serenity was at a level that he never experienced in his life. All that took to reach this place, at that moment, on that sofa, for everything in the world, for the first time in his life, to be fine.
We have done that firm motivation in four times. There were artistic things. There was one where Mike said, “I need to see more.” “I feel he is a man, he is there.” But then, on the last man, I felt that I had a rainbow from my heart. In the latter, I was transparent. After saying “cut”, Mike said, “You must come here and see this, man.” We returned and saw the screen – we saw the last took, landed where it lands, and we see exactly what is going on inside. Everyone started chanting. We got it.
