Vanilla ice cream was noted due to label confusion

Publix is voluntarily recalling a select number of ice cream tubs from stores in six states, the grocer announced Oct. 14.

The brand’s rich, creamy French vanilla ice cream was mistakenly placed in containers labeled regular vanilla, with a mismatched French vanilla lid.

This packaging error means that there is an undeclared egg allergen in the product, posing a risk of severe or life-threatening allergic reactions for people with egg allergies.

The recall affects one serving of Publix Rich & Creamy Vanilla Ice Cream, with a Publix Rich & Creamy French Vanilla Ice Cream topping.

Recalled products can also be identified by the following:

  • measuring: Half a gallon
  • UBC: 41415 03043
  • Sale date: June 19, 2026 A

The recalled ice cream was distributed to Publix stores in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee and Florida — excluding locations in Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Tampa and Sarasota.

It is not clear when the affected ice cream was available for purchase, but as of October 14, all recalled products have been removed from store shelves.

Publix advises all customers to return the recalled ice cream to their local store for a full refund.

So far, there have been no reported illnesses associated with label mix-ups, according to Publix Communications Director Maria Bruce.

Brous also said customers with any questions can call Publix at 1-800-242-1227 or visit its website Website.
