A $ 8 billion inclusion process (5.9 billion pounds) was approved between Paramount Global and Skydance Media by the US Federal Communications Committee (FCC).
The merger was announced between the independent film studio and one of the oldest and most expensive companies in Hollywood in 2024.
The approval came just weeks after Paramount Global approval of paying 16 million dollars (13.5 million pounds) to settle a legal dispute with US President Donald Trump on an interview on CBS affiliated with former Vice President Kamala Harris.
The head of the Federal Communications Committee, Brendan Car, who was appointed by the President, announced the approval of the merger on Thursday, saying that he welcomed Skydance ideas to make “major changes” in CBS.
Approval of the Federal Communications Committee (FCC) means the completion of the completion of the integration process soon, but Paramount has not provided the expiry date expected upon its request by the British Broadcasting Corporation. Skydance did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The Federal Communications Committee (FCC) agreed to transfer broadcast licenses to 28 owned television stations and operated to the new owner.
Mr. Carr said: “The Americans no longer trust in the national media, Legasi, to report fully report, accurate and fair,” said Mr. Car. “It is time to change.”
Mr. Carr said that Skydance has made promises to the agency, including “commitment to the unbiased press” as the integrated company will install grievances to evaluate the bias complaints.
Skydance also promised to end the efforts of diversity, fairness and inclusion, which was targeted by the Trump administration.
The Federal Communications Committee voted 2-1 to approve the deal, with one commissioner, Anna Gomez, Democrat, and opposition.
She wrote: “After months of cowardly surrender to this administration, Paramount finally got what she wanted. Unfortunately, it was the American public who will pay its price in the end.”
Paramount Global tracks more than a century of a century to establish Pictures Corporation in 1914. The studio has made many successful films, including The Godfather, Star Trek and Mission: Spirison Series.
Paramount has Paramount+, as well as Paramount Pictures, CBS, Nickelodeon, BET, MTV, Comedy Central and other media marks.
But the entertainment giant has struggled over the past decade.
Skydance is owned by David Ellson, son of Larry Ellson, who founded the American technology giant.
The approval of the Federal Communications Committee (FCC) was necessary for the deal to move forward.
The deal, which includes CBS, was approved by Paramount Pictures and Comedy Center, after a series of moves by Paramount, including the settlement of a lawsuit by US President Donald Trump.
According to the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times, a 60 -minute settlement was agreed – with the help of the mediator – so as not to affect the planned integration, which was on the Federal Communications Committee (FCC) its decline, and thus Trump had technically capacity.
Trump claimed that the network had edited an interview that was transmitted in its 60 -minute news program with his opponent in the presidential elections, Kamala Harris, to “direct standards for the Democratic Party.”
Paramount said it would pay to settle the lawsuit, but with the money allocated to the future presidential library, she does not charge him “directly or indirectly.”
It also comes a few days after the CBS, owned by Paramount, will finish the late offer with Stephen Colbert, who was criticizing Trump.
The network said this step “is a purely financial decision against a difficult background late at night [television]”And” in any way is not associated with the performance of the presentation, content or other issues. ”
