President Donald Trump quickly boarded Air Force One using the smaller stairs due to “heightened security” at Palm Beach International Airport on Sunday, a White House official told Fox News.

The heightened measures at the airport follow the Secret Service’s discovery of a suspected fishing site on Friday near the airport with a clear line of sight to Air Force One when Trump boards and departs Air Force One.

Fox News was first to report the discovery of the possible sniper’s location. No individuals were arrested.

FBI Director Kash Patel said his agency is leading the investigation.

Patel said the fishing platform has not yet been linked to any individual.

“Before the president returned to West Palm Beach, the USSS discovered what appeared to be an elevated fishing platform within sight of the Air Force One landing zone,” Patel told Fox News Digital. “No one has been located at the scene. Since then, the FBI has taken command of the investigation, moved resources to collect all evidence from the scene, and deployed our cell phone analytic capabilities.”

USSS Communications Chief Anthony Guglielmi also confirmed that the organization is “working closely” with the FBI as well as Palm Beach County law enforcement.

Guglielmi said agents discovered the fishing platform during their “advance security preparations” before Trump arrived in Palm Beach.

“There was no impact on any movements, and there were no individuals present or involved at the location,” Guglielmi told Fox News.

He added: “Although we are unable to provide details about the specific elements or their intentions, this incident underscores the importance of our multi-layered security measures.”
