ICE’s arrest of ICE was followed by more than 100 illegal immigrants – some of whom were identified as members of gangs and drug dealers – during the raids in the center of Los Angeles and the surrounding suburbs.
Reuters reported that the demonstrators responded to violence: burning cars, throwing rocks and fireworks, and tarnishing property with slogans such as “killing ice”. The enforcement of the law and the National Guard forces dispersed the crowds using tear gas.
In response, President Trump has deployed 2000 National Guard soldiers in Los Angeles – a move that criticized both newsom and Bass.
