The Schumer shutdown is still at its peak, and we don’t see a lot of signs on the horizon for this thing to end. But while this issue is still being debated in the Senate, President Trump is not just sitting back and watching. On Saturday, he took to his Truth Social platform to make an interesting recommendation to the Senate Obamacare coverage.

The full text of the president’s message was:
I recommend that Senate Republicans send the hundreds of billions of dollars currently being sent to money-sucking insurance companies to bail out ObamaCare’s bad health care, directly to the people so they can buy their own health care, which is much better, and have money left over. In other words, take from the big, bad insurance companies, give it to the people, and end the worst health care anywhere in the world, Obamacare, for every dollar spent. Irrelevant, we still have to end the filibuster!
At least one member of Congress, Representative Chip Roy (R-TX), was there. Quick to support this move.
Thank you @RealDonaldTrump. Hardworking American families are being crushed while Democrats enrich insurance companies. The GOP has solutions to empower patients and doctors and lower prices, but Democrats are blocking us. Why? For political power. #SchumerShutdown pic.twitter.com/Fz770ZlaYH

President Trump has been a critic of Obamacare since he entered politics, and he has a lot of company among Republicans, while Democrats typically claim that Obamacare is the greatest thing since oxygen. Right now, Congress is deadlocked on Obamacare funding, like many things, thanks to Schumer’s shutdown. But that does not prevent Senator Chuck Schumer (D-New York) from calling for this Obamacare bailout with federal money.
House Speaker Mike Johnson on Thursday told reporters Thursday that he would not commit to holding a vote on extending Obamacare’s enhanced benefits during the coronavirus pandemic, which is set to expire at the end of this year without action from Congress.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune had put forward a vote on such an extension in exchange for Democrats voting to end the lockdown.
The issue of support for enhanced Obamacare has been a topic of debate within the Republican Party, with some… Republicans In more moderate areas it calls for an extension of at least a year to give lawmakers time to create a new health care deal in its place.
Separating payments directly to insurance companies is an idea worth considering, even after the shutdown. It would be better to just repeal Obamacare, not “repeal and replace,” just repeal. It would be better for the federal government to completely eliminate health care funding, because it is a function that Washington has no constitutional authority to touch. But that ship appears to have sailed; This move, to fund citizens directly in what looks a lot like a health care voucher system, would at least be a step in the right direction.

I’m not saying that Senator Schumer and his fellow Democrats are trying to keep this largesse flowing to insurance companies for that reason; to be fair, Republicans have received donations from insurance companies as well. But this is a great argument for separating health care funding from government. At the very least, fund the people, not the insurance companies directly, and then allow the insurance companies to make their appeals to American consumers, not to members of Congress.
You know. As you would expect to see in a free market economy.
Editor’s note: Schumer close here. Instead of putting the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats imposed a government shutdown of health care for illegal immigrants. They own this.
