Every year, the U.S. Army and Naval Academy compete in a nationally televised football game.
Recently, Trump took… Social truth To complain that last year’s 126th annual Army-Navy game had been “pushed aside,” as he put it, by the simulcast college playoff games.
“The Army-Navy Game is one of our greatest American traditions – unparalleled patriotism, courage and honor! This incredible tradition is now in danger of being pushed aside by more college playoff games and big TV money. Not anymore!” Trump wrote.
“Under my administration, the second Saturday in December is for Army and Navy only! I will soon sign a historic executive order to secure an exclusive 4-hour broadcast window, so this national event trumps commercial postseason games. No other game or team can violate this time period!!!”
“On the field, they are competitors, but on the battlefield they are America’s unstoppable patriots, defending our country with tremendous strength and tremendous heart. We must protect the traditions, and the players, who protect us. Please serve as notice to all television networks, stations, and outlets. God Bless America, and God Bless Our Great Army-Navy Game!!! President Donald Trump.”
Obviously, news of Trump’s plan to use his presidential power to control television networks had people responding like:
“Let’s get this for a moment. The president is ordering TV stations to reserve a time slot for his chosen programming, and he’s denying the media the right to run other content at that time? Is the right still trying to say this guy isn’t a dictator?” Someone else said.
Someone else called it “state TV.”
One person commented: “The more everyone realizes and accepts that we live under a dictatorial regime, the better the situation will be. Acknowledging the problem is the first step towards recovery.”
