The left collapsed when CBS News editor-in-chief Barry Weiss pulled a 60 Minutes segment about illegal aliens and the CECOT prison in El Salvador.
Weiss snatched it up, saying it wasn’t ready and needed more reports. She also explained in a note why she felt the story was incomplete.
When that memo and more facts came to light, it was clear that it had been withdrawn for good reasons. Among the problems? It did not contain any current comment from the Trump administration. The reporter’s comments on the story in response to other employees seemed to indicate that they had not received a response from management, and referred to the government’s “silence.”
However, reports indicated that they had already received three different responses: from the Department of Homeland Security, the State Department, and the White House. However, they have not seen any of it, including the 300-word response from Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security Tricia McLaughlin.

A new report raises more questions about 60 Minutes’ illegal alien story
here Response from the White HouseAnd it’s clear to me why they didn’t include it — it completely undermines the narrative focus on “poor illegal aliens” in the 60 Minutes article, and refocuses on what should matter: American citizens.
A statement from White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson said: According to the New York Times“60 Minutes should spend its time and energy amplifying the stories of Angel Parents, whose innocent American children were tragically murdered by evil, illegal aliens like President Trump. [sic] Deportation from the country.”
It also raises a good question. Where are the stories of these angelic fathers in the liberal media? The liberal press doesn’t seem to care. In fact, it’s the White House or conservative sites that should be highlighting these stories. Why does the liberal media seem to care more about illegal aliens? Why don’t they want to hear from people like Angel Mom Agnes Gibboney, who talks about “real family separation”?

The 60 Minutes segment was broadcast on television in Canada through the Global Television app. It only included an old, brief comment from White House Press Secretary Carolyn Leavitt and an old comment from President Donald Trump praising El Salvador’s prisons, though the new comments in response to the specific story are there to provide balanced rebuttal/current context.
So it’s easy to see why Weiss thought this wouldn’t do the trick and demanded more balance.
As we reported, it will now reform all CBS News programs to have common editorial standards and procedures they must follow. This will help the press. So we’re likely to see more tantrums in the liberal media in response, as they work to get the ball rolling.
