The suspect was arrested in killing a long -distance couple with girls in Arkansas

The state police said on Wednesday that a suspect was arrested in the killing of a couple who was attacked on the path of walking in Arkansas on Saturday.

The Arkansas State Police said in a statement that James Andrew McCajan, 28, from Sprinjille, was arrested at 4:57 pm on Wednesday at a company in Springell and charged him with two charges of practical killing.

Police said he was accused of killing Clinton David Brink, 43, and Krieston Amanda Brink, 41, who was attacked on Saturday afternoon in front of their daughters while walking at Devils Star Park.

The arrest comes after a period of time.

Colonel Mike Hajar, Director of Arkansas State Police, thanked the state police for making long hours to search for a suspect, as well as federal agencies for their help.

Hajar said: “Because of their hard work and investigation skills, we were able to take a monster from the streets and hide these precious girls and the rest of our citizens.”

Daughters of the couple are 7 years and 9 years old. Officials said they were not in attack and safety with family members.

Katrina Hatchens, the sister of Clinton Bernik, said she moved to the state about three weeks ago.

The state police were notified of Devil’s Deen shortly before 3 pm on Saturday. Officials issued a fee for the suspect and asked the public. They said the witnesses saw a four -door black sedan with a tape partially covering his license plate.

The family said in a previous statement: “Clinton and Cryston the heroes died, and they brought their little girls and deserve justice. They will live forever in all our hearts.”

On Wednesday, the authorities did not mention a suspect or how killings occurred.

Devil’s Den State Park is about 26 miles south of Springdale, a city with about 84,000 in the northwestern part of the state.
