Google said on Tuesday that she is testing a new experimental search application on Windows that will search for your computer as well as the web, and the Google lens app when needed.
Google classified its new application as an “experiment”, as it uploaded it to its Labs program today. The application is simply called “Google app for Windows”, and it was explained in the TERSE blog post on Google.
“Now you can search without switching Windows or boycotting your flow,” said Google. “Whether you are writing in a document or in the middle of the game, you only need to click on Alt + Space to immediately search for information from your computer files, installed applications, and Google engine files – and of course the web.”
Interestingly, Google was not described as the Search App as a “GEINI” project, which is the name associated with AI’s efforts. However, the app definitely wipes the lines between traditional search and AI.
From the search perspective, Google is to obtain any results you request from the web, and your local files, as well as any files you may have connected via Google Drive – even local applications. However, it is unclear whether this new search application will lead to the fall of Google Meet or even third -party applications like Slack, or if the files associated with the main word you are looking for.
Google gave a small example below:

The new search application contains Amnesty International, also: Google is that you are able to allow the new search application to “watch” what is being displayed on the screen, and asking the search questions on its claims to explain it. This is definitely closer to what Google showed in the Gemini app, or what Microsoft allows you to do via Copilot or the built -in version in Microsoft 365 applications (Office).
Finally, Google is also considered that you can run artificial intelligence mode inside this search application, if you want to take over AI’s capabilities.
To try it, you will need to be part of the Google Labs program, and download the application for Windows 10 or Windows 11 computers on your personal account – not Workspace -. Google said it is only available for American users, and the space is limited.
