The height of earthquakes in Washington, Berkano, demands more monitoring from scholars

Scientists publish screens on the volcanic Mount Adams in Washington State, after a rise in seismic activity.

The US Geological Survey (USGs) said that the Adams Mountain usually suffers from an earthquake every two to three years, but in September, there were six earthquakes alone, as it stuck to one month since the start of the monitoring in 1982.

Earthquakes were monitored by the USGS CASCADES (CVO) and the North West Seismic Network in the Pacific Ocean (PNSN) and ranged in sizes from 0.9 to 2.0. Usgs said which of the earthquakes are not felt on the surface.

With only one seismic station near the volcano, USGs said the monitoring capabilities are limited.

CVO and PNSN are planning to install temporary seismic stations near Mount Adams to help discover smaller earthquakes with better estimates of size, location and depth. Data will help scientists assess the importance of increasing seismic activity near the volcano.

With the permission of the American forest service, CVO will set temporary stations in the south and southwest of Jabal Adams. Once activated, the data will be transferred to CVO and PNSN in an actual time.

Despite the rise in seismic activity, Usgs says there is no indication of the cause of anxiety and that the level of alert and the color symbol of the Adams mountain remains in green and natural.

Mount Adams is located in southern central Washington, about 50 miles west of Yakima, Washington.

In the mountainous volcanic field of Mount Adams-King from the north and south, the Adams Mountain is the most prominent summit. It is also the second volcano in Washington and is the largest active volcano in the state in size and area, according to the United States of America.

The agency said over the past 12,000 years, there have been four volcanic lava flows that started on the volcano and two holes along the South Ridge. The flows usually travel only a few miles away from the ventilation holes.

Usgs added that the last time the Adams Mountain erupted between 3800 and 7600 years.

But one of the biggest threats to people living near the volcano is Lahars, or muddy flows of rocks, ash and ice that rush in the direction of the river course like rapidly flowing concrete.
