
The federal government wants to provide business and industry information about processed foods so that the national definition of such foods can be formulated.
In an official request to obtain information, the leadership in the Ministry of Health and Humanitarian Services announced the US Department of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration this week about concerns about the health of the American public in terms of its connection with processed foods.
The leaders of government agencies said they are concerned that foods contribute to “a chronic disease that suffers from America.” They said that the decisive stopping in addressing the problem is to collect information from business and industry to help create a recognized unified definition through highly treated food.
The advertisement did not specify what, if any, action will be taken to control processed foods once a definition is created.
