Virginia has witnessed that an overdose of the drug was flooded with more than 40 percent in one year. Many other countries are witnessing improvements in excess of 30 percent. Why is this happening? The researchers say it may be a mixture of factors, some of them hope, some of them are painful.

In the past six months, you have been following something great and mysterious happening in the American streets. For the first time in thirty years, drug deaths are collapsing at a rate of addiction experts that are optimistic – but also puzzled.
In the past, even the most ambitious and well -funded efforts to slow the drug deaths only helped a little. Eight or nine percent was seen to reduce excessive doses as a major victory.
But now the deaths of the country decreased by more than 26 percent of the peak in June 2023, according to the latest Initial data collected by the centers of control and prevention of diseases.
This means approximately 30,000 people less per year die. Many countries are witnessing improvements greater than 30 to 50 percent. In some states, progress has been continuing since 2021 and 2022, indicating that this is not a temporary point.
How did the United States finally turn the angle when the drug dies?
What happens here? Nobody definitely knows, but here are eight pioneering theories that I hear from experts.
1. Naluxon, also known as Narcan, may be the change of the game. The Biden Administration raced to make this medicine, a spray of nose that quickly reflects excess doses of opiates and fentanel, available on a wider scale. People can now buy it without a prescription without a prescription. It is distributed free of charge in many risk societies and people who use drugs often carry it. It is not clear that the naluxon life it provides every year, but many public health workers on the front lines tell me that the effect is huge. Learn more here.

Naluxon, also known as Narcan, is much easier and more affordable than ever. People who use fentanel now revive regularly after experimenting with overdoses. Some public health experts and activists believe that this drug may be a major factor that turns the wave of an overdose crisis in America.

2. Vintelieh weaken. The fentian street is incredibly strong. But in many parts of the United States, the organizations that test the doses of the fentanel sold by drug dealers – often found in the form of birth control pills – found a significant decrease in purity. No one is sure why drug gangs change. Some researchers believe that the pressure of law enforcement in China, Mexico and the United States disrupts the Ventanil supply chain on the black market. 3. Serious but less deadly drug supplies in the streets. In most of the United States, gangs sell a complex drug of drugs in the streets. It seems that the amount of fentanel decreases (see above), while the amount of animal sedatives, such as medetomidine and icelasine. These chemicals are very toxic. It causes skin wounds, severe withdrawal symptoms, and other long -term health problems. But doctors and addiction experts generally agree that they are not immediately killer like fentanel. This may mean more chronic disease, but fewer fatal excessive doses. Learn more here.

When the American Avenue crisis began in the 1990s, the treatment of drug addiction was rare and often shrouded in shame. The American addiction treatment system and the safety network have witnessed huge improvements over the past decade. Better medications are available and in many societies, more resources are available to help people who use very dangerous drugs such as fentanel.

4. The best general health. Thirty years after the start of the American opioid crisis – and after a decade of the spread of fentanel at the level of the country – the United States took great steps in developing better and more affordable services for people with addiction. Medicines that reduce the intense desire for opioids, including poprinorphine and metadon, are available on a larger scale, partly due to insurance coverage provided by Medicaid. In many states, approximately $ 50 billion of the opioid settlement funds have also started. To move forward, it is not clear how the Deep Runnings of the Trump administration of public health agencies and grants will affect this new addiction safety network. Learn more here.
5. Many people have already died. This theory is deducted by some researchers to which I speak, but many addiction experts believe it is a factor. Over the past five years, The United States has lost nearly 110,000 people due to excessive doses of fatal drugs every year. Drug deaths may decrease partially because a tragic number of people who use fentanel and other extremely dangerous drugs have not simply survived. Learn more here.
6. The influence flowing from the roaming epidemic. The isolation, shock and disruption of addiction treatment programs that followed the appearance of Covid in 2020 with the most devastating excess dose years. Many public health experts believe that the epidemic has depths of the catastrophic effects of fentanel. According to this theory, as Covid’s effects continued to vanish, the excessive dose is also decreased to a more “natural” level. Learn more here.
7. People use fentanel (and other high streets) with more skill. This is a common theory among people who use drugs in the streets. They often tell me that they adapted to the risk of fentanel through smoking rather than drug injection, which many addiction experts believe are safer (although they are still incredibly dangerous). People are trying not to use fentanel alone and often carry Narcan or Narcan to reflect excessive doses. Many people use test strips to determine unwanted pollutants in their medications and use smaller fentian doses. Learn more here.
8. A decrease in young people who use drugs. Fintanel Street It has emerged as a major cause of death among young people in the United States, between the ages of 18 and 45. But research indicates that the number of young people and adolescents who use drugs (unlike hemp). This trend is important because new users have a low material tolerance of Avouena like fentanel, which means that they are more likely to excess dose and die. Few young users mean fewer people who bear this risk. Learn more here.
It is important to emphasize all these theories – theories. Most researchers, doctors and care providers on the front lines say they need more data and more time to understand a major shift.
But there is an increasingly increasing consensus that the answer may be “all of the above.”
A big question to go ahead How high is the number of drug deaths? We have already seen the biggest and faster in the history of the United States. To date, there is no sign that the improvement slows down.
