Apple’s next front-end redesign may hinge less on the dynamic island and more on where the selfie camera will finally land. According to a growing pile of leaksThe iPhone 18 Pro could move the front camera to a small hole in the top left corner of the screen, a notable departure from Apple’s centralized approach over the past few years.
The report says Apple will optimize Gemini for Siri use on its own
As I mentioned for the first time before InformationApple is expected to introduce the Face ID feature under the screen in the iPhone 18 Pro models, allowing the TrueDepth sensors to sit invisibly under the screen. This would leave only the selfie camera visible, no longer requiring the pill-shaped cutout we know as the dynamic island.
Instead of centering this hole, the leak suggests that Apple may place the selfie camera in the top left corner, where the Watch currently resides. This is in line with previous reports that the leaked digital chat station claims that only the Pro models will receive the new notch area under the display, while the standard iPhone 18 models will retain the existing dynamic island.
Speed of light mashable
MacRumors adds If the selfie camera moves, the dynamic island may follow. In a video from John ProsserThe dynamic island appears moved to the top left, expanding outward when needed for live activities, calls, or navigation.
If rumors persist, the most obvious change to the iPhone 18 Pro won’t be flashy software tricks, but a more subdued repositioning of the selfie camera itself. We’ll likely find out which rumor wins out when Apple officially unveils the iPhone 18 Pro later this year.
