Spotify has a new feature: Managed Accounts. It is intended for children under the age of 13, and allows parents to control and monitor what their children listen to.
Launched on Tuesday as part of Spotify’s Premium Family plan, the feature may be welcomed by people who have struggled with their children constantly stumbling upon age-inappropriate content. But I bet a lot of users will be more excited about the fact that this means your kids’ songs can now be excluded from your recommendations and Spotify Wrapped lists.
Spotify offers AI classification and spam filter to stop AI music
The new feature, which has launched in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, France and the Netherlands, allows users with an active family plan to create managed accounts with several specific controls. These include a self-explanatory explicit content filter, the ability to restrict playback of certain artists, songs or explicit versions of releases, and a toggle to hide video and canvas (on Spotify, these are the short, looping videos that accompany some songs). Messages and other interactive features are also not available in managed accounts.
Speed of light mashable
I’ll skip the “rise of pop” list, thank you.

To set up a managed account, open your account page in the Spotify app, select “Add Member,” then select “Add a listener under 13 (or equivalent in your local market).”
AI-generated songs appear among deceased artists on Spotify
Now for the good part: each managed account has its own recommendations and aggregated lists. This means you won’t see your child’s favorite lullaby as the best song of the year in Spotify Wrapped, but you also won’t get recommendations based on the songs your kids listen to. excellent.
