Russell Brand has finally reacted to his ex-wife Katy Perry’s new romance with politician Justin Trudeau.
Speaking to the audience at a Turning Point USA event in Phoenix on Thursday, the 50-year-old comedian criticized the singer for dating the former Canadian prime minister.
“Look, Katy Perry, I was married to her,” Russell said. “I still love her, and I’m glad her mother is in the room to hear me say this, but look.”
He added: “I was fine with Orlando Bloom, but Justin Trudeau? Come on, man! Don’t put me in a category with this guy! This global agent.”
For those who don’t know much, Katie and Russell were married from 2010 until 2012. After her split from Russell, the pop star got engaged to Orlando in 2019.
However, the relationship was short-lived as the couple ended their engagement in June 2025. Together, the couple shares a 5-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom.
Katy first sparked relationship rumors with Justin in July 2025 when they were spotted on a date in Montreal, Canada.
At the time, an insider said the people magazine that the two had an “instant connection.”
“They are interested in each other, but it will take some time to see where it goes,” the source said.
“She’s traveling the world, and he’s figuring out his life now that he’s no longer Prime Minister of Canada, but there’s an attraction. They have a lot in common,” the confidant added.
Katy and Justin made their first public appearance as a couple at a cabaret show in Paris in October 2025.
