
Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle Reiner want people to show kindness and understanding towards their son Nick, according to producer Douglas Shaffer, who previously worked with the late director.
Shaffer said recently the people In conversation, “There’s lots and lots of healing to do” following the tragic deaths of Rob and Michelle.
Nick has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of his parents, who were found dead in their Los Angeles home on December 14. Nick has been dealing with mental health issues and drug addiction since his teens.
In the wake of Rob and Michelle’s murders, Douglas expressed his opinions on how Nick’s parents would react in this situation.
“I think they probably want people to feel sympathy for Nick’s struggles,” he said, “and maybe tolerance in the future.”
Douglas also shared that the late Princess Bride director “was a proud father, a loving father, and along with Michelle — she was a loving mother…Nick had a good support system, as far as I know.”
Considering how Rob dealt with Nick’s addiction and mental health issues, Douglas noted that Rob “struggled to understand” Nick’s problems.
