A special operations team from the Austin Fire Department’s Fire Station 14 in Austin, Texas, led by Animal Protection Officer Rufus Racklan, used a rope hoist to lift the beaver from the water to return it to safety.

“When he arrived, the beaver was clearly exhausted – there was only a small ledge to rest on, and he had likely been swimming for days!,” the post read.

The beaver was then quickly transported to an Austin Wildlife Rescue facility to rest and recover.

“Oh my goodness, the poor guy. So glad he was saved,” one commenter said in response to the post, expressing his relief.

It takes not just professional wildlife officers to rescue and protect such animals; Volunteers and ordinary people can make a difference in their communities by helping rescue animals from natural disasters, such as wildfires, or by contacting authorities when they see an animal in danger.

As animals continue to be endangered, and these types of rescues become more necessary due to things like plastic pollution, understanding the importance of individual action can make a big difference.

Take local action To help clean up your community or Donate to climate causes These are just two ways you can help ensure that animals continue to be protected and mitigate the harm they face.

“Thank you for saving this very precious and important beaver! We humans need to continue protecting all animals and plants because it is the right thing to do and we depend on nature to survive!!!” Another commenter wrote.
