Reese Witherspoon issues an urgent warning after scammers used her identity

Reese Witherspoon has issued an urgent warning after discovering her identity was being used to target fans on social media.

While taking to TikTok on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, the actress warned her fans that many fake accounts are impersonating her on platforms including TikTok and Instagram.

“Hey, this is important,” Witherspoon said in the video, adding, “I just want to let you know what I’ve been dealing with for the last 24 hours.”

“There are a lot of people on TikTok and Instagram impersonating me, going into people’s DMs, trying to build a relationship, trying to extract personal information, plan meet-up times,” she added.

Witherspoon went on to explain, “I want you to know that this is not me. And it’s very upsetting when people use my name to manipulate people, but I want you to know that I would never manipulate you.”

Furthermore, the actress noted that she “will never contact you for money, private information, or to set up a time to meet.”

Witherspoon asked her fans to make sure to “verify” the account.

“If someone is talking to you, it’s not just me. This happens across the board, but it’s really upsetting that this is happening on a large scale. So please be careful out there, and please know that I would never reach out to manipulate you or take anything from you, okay,” she said.

It is worth noting that Reese Witherspoon’s warning comes after Helen Mirren warned fans to be wary of messages coming from the email address bearing her name in June 2025.
