There’s a question floating around in conservative circles that makes polite society squirm, and it’s usually one you know is worth asking. It has gone viral again as it was featured on X in November.
I cannot for the life of me understand why liberal women have become so sympathetic to Islam but despise Christianity?

Why do so many contemporary liberal women speak with open hostility toward Christianity while showing sympathy, or at least silence, toward Islam? Cultural Muslims do not live quietly in America. Not neighbors or co-workers. The ideology itself, especially its fundamentalist expressions that are openly hostile to women’s rights, independence, and safety.
This question is not obnoxious. She’s not ignorant. It’s noticeable.
Anyone who bothered to read the basic reports coming out of Iran, Afghanistan, or parts of the Middle East knows the outcome. Hitting women for showing hair. Banning girls from school. Forced marriage. Honor killings. Legal systems where a woman’s testimony is worth half that of a man.
This is not marginal misinformation. This is a documented fact. Yet the loudest voices screaming about patriarchy, oppression, and “toxic masculinity” are strangely quieted when these facts emerge. Or worse, they dismiss, excuse, or berate anyone who notices.
So what’s going on here?
The concept that best explains this is something many conservatives have begun calling toxic empathy. Empathy divorced from truth. Mercy separated from wisdom. Feelings trump facts. Empathy itself is not the problem. Empathy is good. Christianity invented it as a moral virtue long before it became a hashtag. The problem is empathy that has been weaponized, redirected, and amplified beyond common sense and moral clarity.
When compassion becomes the highest authority, it no longer asks whether something is good or right. It only asks who resembles the victim and who can be described as the oppressor.
Christianity, especially biblical Christianity, has moral demands. He talks about sin. He talks about self-denial. He talks about authority that does not bow to personal feelings. This is insulting to a culture built on self-definition and personal independence. In progressive circles, Islam is accepted not because it is nice, but because it is classified as “the other.” Criticizing him is politically dangerous. It is virtuous to defend it, even when the facts say otherwise.
This is not about theology. It’s about the narrative.

Progressive ideology teaches people to classify the world into hierarchies of power. The oppressor and the oppressed. Majority and minority. West and non-West. Christianity, being the foundation of Western civilization, is portrayed as the villain by default. Islam, which is associated with non-Western cultures, is treated as fragile and outcast, regardless of its doctrines or actual results.
This is where toxic empathy comes into play. It requires loyalty to feelings at the expense of facts, and narratives at the expense of reality.
There’s another uncomfortable layer to this conversation, and that’s sensitive yes. But the truth is usually so.
Many progressive women have delayed or rejected starting a family altogether. Fewer children. Subsequent marriages. Often nothing at all. This is not an insult. It is a social fact supported by mountains of data. According to what was reported by NBC News reconnaissance,
Gen Z women who voted for Harris ranked having children as the second least important thing in their personal definition of success.
When you remove family as the primary outlet for care, dedication, and sacrifice, those instincts don’t go away. They are redirected.
Women were created by God for education. This instinct is strong. When it takes root in the home, it builds stable families, communities, and communities. When it is separated from this basis, it clings to abstract reasons. movements. Ideologies. Hashtags. Political crusades.
You can see it everywhere. The emotional ferocity with which some women defend abortion, not as a tragic necessity but as a moral good. The way activity becomes identity. The way to deal with opposition is heresy. These are not logical positions. They are emotional commitments.

Christianity challenges this by calling women and men to structured love. God first. Family second. Next community. Finally, the breath. This hierarchy poses a profound threat to a culture built on self-expression and personal sovereignty.
Therefore, Christianity must be dismantled. He mocked. Redefining. Neutralize.
In contrast, Islam is rarely examined honestly in progressive spaces because honest examination requires moral judgment. Moral judgment has been declared to be the ultimate sin. The irony is painful. The same activists who fall back on the phrase “women are subject to their husbands,” which is often distorted to begin with, will bend over backwards to avoid condemning systems in which all women are subject to all men, enforced by violence and law.
Toxic empathy does not protect women. And abandon them. It teaches people to ignore reality if reality disrupts the preferred narrative. It is training a generation to raise ideas instead of people, issues instead of children, and feelings instead of truth. It leaves us with a culture that cannot answer simple questions truthfully.
Christianity is not the enemy of women. It built the concept that women have inherent worth. It protects families. It grounds empathy in truth. The problem isn’t that progressive women care too much. They have been taught to care without discrimination.
Empathy without truth is not love. It is a kindness that cannot be healed.
