Pharmacists in England say they are facing “major issues” with large numbers of patients who book appointments for Covid Jabs only to find that they are no longer eligible.
These criteria are tightened this year so that only free reinforcements are offered from the age of 75 years and over, along with younger patients who suffer from weakening of the immune system.
Between a third and a half of the people attending to appoint them should be removed in many locations, according to the community pharmacy in England (CPE), which represent more than 10,000 chemicals including many major chains.
The situation was described as “unacceptable” with reports of angry and frustrated patients and the abuse of employees.
NHS CPE NHS ALASTAIR BUXTON Service Director said he became clear within an hour of NHS website reservation system Last week, there was a problem.
He said that many people seemed to lack information about eligibility on the reservation system and made the assumption that they were still qualified.
But when they attend their vaccinations, pharmacies are only able to give them a flu tweed.
“This is clearly required to explain patients. It causes discomfort and anxiety and possibly anger for some patients.
“We definitely have examples that some patients become offensive with members of the pharmacy team.”
Henry Greg, head of the National Pharmacy Association, which represents independent pharmacists, says the case was raised with NHS England and the government.
“It should have been avoided, which is very frustrated by both pharmacies and patients. We urge any patient in this case to treat pharmacy teams with respect as pharmacies try to manage the new clinical standards of NHS.”
Pharmacists said that more should have been done to make people realize changes – given influenza vaccine and large vaccine programs last year.
In response to the problems, NHS England said that the drafting on the site was changed to make it more clear that eligibility standards were tightened.
“Please check that you are still eligible to receive a coffee vaccine before booking – the NHS website will determine whether your age, health condition or medicine means that you are qualified, and you will confirm your practice or the pharmacist GP that before the vaccine gives you,” a spokeswoman added.

Paul Williamson, 71, Donkster, is one of those who have just discovered that he is no longer eligible for Covid support.
He realized when he logged into the reservation site and told your BBC news that he was shocked to know that the criteria had changed.
“I am disappointed. It looks like an exercise to reduce costs.”
As an older person, he said he would do everything possible to protect himself, and therefore he is now considering paying his price separately.
Covid vaccines are especially available in High Street and cost about 100 pounds per person.
Changes in eligibility
Changes were made in eligibility based on the advice of a group of independent experts called the Joint Vaccination and Immunization Committee (JCVI).
He – she It is recommended that you change the eligibility to support the fall Covid From 2025.
Last year, JAB was provided for free to anyone aged 65 years or more and those who have a long list of chronic or long -term conditions.
This has now been changed with the maximum age to all those who reached 75 before March 2026, in addition to the population of the care homes for the elderly and the people who have been classified as immunodeficiency.
This includes those who undergo some cancer and implant patients, along with those who live with HIV and some genetic disorders.
But this means that many people who suffer from cases such as diabetes, heart disease, respiratory disease, asthma and severe mental illness will not qualify.
In addition, pregnant women and health care workers will not be displayed on the fall line for free this fall.
JCVI said that Covid is now “a relatively moderate disease for most people”, with hospitalization and death rates significantly.
He said that the focus on the oldest adults and individuals whose immunity devices have endangered, as the two groups that are still at greater risk depend on “standard effectiveness assessment, in line with other routine vaccines.”
