McDavid has made it clear he wants to score more this season, and while he hasn’t scored yet, he has a great chance to light the lamp tonight.

Connor McDavid has made no secret of his desire to score more goals this season. However, his account remained empty for four matches.

Oilers vs. Devils predictions
Your best oil bet against demons: Connor McDavid goal anytime (+140)
Connor McDavid has yet to score, but not for lack of opportunities.
The league’s Most Valuable Player tested opposing goalkeepers, creating 17 scoring chances – 15 shots on target – and nine first-class finishes in just four matches. This translated into 2.29 expected goals, an average of 0.57 per goal.
McDavid sits between Leon Draisaitl and Shane Pinto for 29th in the league so far. McDavid’s star teammate has scored three times while the latter has found leads six times already.
What’s important is that McDavid looks. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that it’s going to produce results sooner rather than later when we’re talking about such a talented player – one with a 64-goal campaign in his back pocket.
The chances should continue for the Devils, who rank in the bottom 10 in goals and expected goals allowed at 5-for-5.
Although his penalty kill metrics are exceptional, slowing McDavid down with extra time and space to operate will still be a major challenge.
Oilers vs. Devils in the same game
Connor McDavid had multiple points in 45% of his games last season. He’s bitten by a small snake at first, but when he scores, the floodgates should open.
Evan Bouchard has collected 117 assists over the past two years but has not had any this season. He spends a lot of time with bigs at 5-on-5 and quarterbacks on lethal force plays, so it’s difficult for this stretch to last much longer.
Luke Hughes has four points through four games, ranks third on the Devils in shot attempts, and is one behind Brett Pesce for the team lead in ice time. He is very involved in the attack.
