Officials say the man sought to lead deputies to a Volusia County swamp

Sheriff’s investigators need your help finding a man they say stole a car, then fled from deputies in Volusia County.

Deputies said Earl Dury was seen in a stolen car on Wednesday.

They later found the vehicle abandoned near DeLeon Springs State Park.

Investigators said Dury crashed into a swamp, and the tense moments were captured on a deputy’s body-worn camera video.

Deputies can be heard yelling at the suspect as they navigated through the swamp with the K-9 unit: “He’s got a gun! Drop the gun!”

But deputies have been unable to find Dory since that encounter.

Officials described Dorey as 37 years old, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and approximately 150 pounds.

The Volusia Sheriff’s Office is asking for tips to help find Dorey, who ran away after crashing into a swamp.

They believe he is armed.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to call 911 or contact the Volusia Police Department.
