- The second version of the defense against the AI (DAITA) movement is now available for all VPN applications
- Daita issued in May 2024 as the “first step” in the battle against advanced traffic analysis
MullVad VPN just revealed a major upgrade to protect it against monitoring artificial intelligence.
The second version of its defense against the traffic directed to the AI (Diata) is now available to all VPN applications, which brings two main improvement “they make it difficult for attackers targeting DAita.”
One of the best VPN service providers for users who realize privacy, MullVad Daita released in May 2024 as the “first step” in the battle against the advanced traffic analysis that works on a new AI program.

Daita is fully designed on an open source frame, adjusting the appearance of data packets sent via the VPN network to prevent SNOPERS from tracking the activity to you.
It does this by making all data packages of the same size, adding random background traffic, and distortion patterns.
According to Johnson, CEO of Mullvad VPN, this capacity is crucial, as artificial intelligence can be used to analyze traffic patterns. In simpler phrases, this means that your activities may be linked to you without the need to break the encryption offered by the virtual private network (VPN).
Johnson told me in October: “Artificial intelligence will be used to collect data around people and analyze that data. For this reason we have developed DAITA, to face this right at the data collection point.”
On March 28, 2025, Mullvad released the second version of Daita across all its platforms to reduce attacks against the same feature.

According to Mullfad words“Daita version 2 2 brings two main improvement: a significant decrease in the upper traffic and dynamic formations that vary the properties of the VPN tunnel between communications.”
The first improvement improves one of the secret practices that DAITA uses to confuse artificial intelligence – add fake packages to distorting network patterns.
DAITA 2.0 now inserts half the amount of these beams, but it provides the same level of defense. “As a customer uses DAITA, the immediate benefit is to improve speed,” says the provider.
In the new version, two VPN clients will now visit the same web page by producing different data flows inside the expenses to make it difficult for the attackers to circumvent DAITA protection. A new composition is also determined every time the device re -creates its VPN connection.
If you want more technical details about how DAita works, I suggest reading This post By Cyber Security researchers at the University of Carlstad on this topic.
Molfad’s commitment to protect your data from monitoring artificial intelligence does not stop there. The team is already working on a new version of Daita.
“DAITA version 3 is already on the road map and will provide a new type of defense along with the existing. Watch this space for more updates and we advance the state of defending the available network and performance network.”
