MS NOW’s Maddow claims Republicans will demand Hegseth’s resignation

Republican lawmakers will ask Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to resign over a report alleging irregularities in his handling of drug boat attacks in the Caribbean, the network’s host Rachel Maddow predicted Tuesday on MS NOW’s “Deadline.”

“I don’t understand why we’re at war with Venezuela, and I’m not sure the administration is bothered even trying to come up with anything, even internally coherent,” Maddow said.

She continued: “So what do we do there in the first place? Why do we go out on the water and kill people in outboard motor boats, some of which are not even heading towards the United States, let alone check for drugs on them, let alone even if they did, if they were coming to the United States and they had the ability to get into the United States, and they were full of drugs, why couldn’t they be stopped the way we do with the Coast Guard, where you go and take the drugs and then put those people on trial and investigate them and then follow the drugs back to their original source and then take care of them?”

“It’s a disaster,” Maddow added. “I think Pete Hegseth, it’s impossible to imagine that he’s going to survive this as Secretary of Defense. I think he should resign, and I think Republicans will eventually ask for that once this is investigated.”
