Minnesota Vikings news and links: Should we keep beating this dead horse?

There’s not much news besides the odds of Brian Flores leaving for another team seem to grow with every report you read. I don’t think the team can replace him but they can find someone else to consider him as a good defensive match. The concern if he leaves is will some employees no longer fit into the new DC scheme? This will report potential sales or deals.

The other issue is the dead horse and whether we should continue to beat it. I think this is inevitable but there is nothing new at the moment.

Insiders share a big update on Brian Flores’ future with the Vikings

With Flores considering all his options, NFL insider Tom Pelissero appeared Jan. 8 on KFAN1003 and shared the latest he’s hearing about the defensive coordinator and whether a return to the Vikings is possible.

“Regarding Flo’s contract, I don’t feel like that contract is my top priority [with the Vikings]“He is now focusing on the major training opportunities that could be available there,” Pelissero said.

“Once we get past that, let’s see exactly how some of the other dominoes fall. Is Flo potentially going back to playing? Yes. But there are a lot of other concerns, I’d tell you that, as far as the defensive coordinator is concerned, if there’s not a head coaching opportunity.”

On January 8, Todd Archer, who covers the Dallas Cowboys for ESPN, citing multiple sources, reported that the Cowboys had requested permission to speak with Minnesota defensive passing game coordinator Daronte Jones for the vacant defensive coordinator job.

Vikings news Jordan Addison appears ahead of free agency
Selected 23rd overall in the 2023 draft, Addison is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is eligible for a fifth-year option, which would keep him under contract through the 2027 season at a below-market price for a top-tier No. 2 wide receiver.

Mark Ross of NFL.com urged the Vikings to exercise Addison’s fifth-year option, which would cap Addison at $17.5 million guaranteed for the 2027 season — worth more than his four-year, $13.4 million rookie deal.

Make a cap space

The Vikings have a lot of decisions to make to reach the cap and have a little cap room to add some free agents.
