What is this nonsense?! Microsoft will soon start slowing OneNote on Windows 10, forcing users and professionals who depend on the tool to upgrade to Windows 11. According to a recently updated support document, Microsoft confirms that the Oneenote for Windows 10 will reach the end of official support in October 2025.
The original Oneenote was announced by Bill Gates in 2002, when most people were still using Windows XP or Windows 2000 on their computers. The notes blogging tool was part of the Office suite and was subsequently updated and provided for free in various versions of various operating and web systems, but Microsoft is now pushing to simplify the program-with Windows 10 users left behind.
As for the current announcement, the “Legacy” version retired Besides Windows 10, the operating system is also scheduled to lose support in October, and Microsoft now urges users to install Windows 11 or buy a completely new device that operates the latest operating system. Programs are an annoying fact for computers users, but Redmond seems to cook an additional frustrating thing in the case of OneNote.
Enterprise customers who are still using OneNote on Windows 10 are advised to switch to the latest version – called “OneNote for Windows” – which is available in Microsoft Store. Microsoft tries to simplify the current chaos of the shows, as it currently maintains three different versions of the same basic system for noting notes: one for Windows 10, the other for Windows 11, and a web -based version.
Microsoft has also confirmed that starting in June 2025, Oneenote will test the Windows 10 operating system. The slowest sympathy Performance, which makes cooperation in actual time and multi -devices more difficult. Why will this Microsoft do? The company explains that the fastest synchronization is an exclusive feature of the latest Oneenote for Windows, which also includes Copilot AI features, new safety options and other “improvements”.
A few years ago, Microsoft reported that users will not have to upgrade the current OneNote installation and that they will remain in control. Although the Oneenote for Windows 10 will be technically after October 2025, those who prefer this must now expect the deteriorating performance … Absolutely there is no practical reason at all.
Although it is nearly 10 years, Windows 10 remains the most widely used desktop operating system. Windows 11 has not received the same hot welcome, and it seems that Microsoft now resort to its usual heavy tactics to break the stalemate in the market. Needless to say, there are a lot of alternative notes blogging tools that you should consider if you plan to adhere to Windows 10 after October 2025.
