
Michael Douglas talked about how he and Rob Reiner bonded over raising their sons with drug problems.
during CBS News‘ private Rob Reiner: Scenes from LifeMichael praised Robb as a devoted father who gives his best professionally, despite dealing with his son Nick, who has serious drug and mental health problems.
“With this terrible tragedy, we realize how much stress he was dealing with in his personal life with his son,” Michael said, referring to the murder of Rob and his wife, Michelle.
For those who don’t know, Rob’s son Nick was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the brutal murder of his parents.
Michael went on to share his own struggle dealing with a son with addiction issues, saying, “I also had a son with drug problems. I’m happy to say he has overcome them and is living a thriving life.”
He openly acknowledged the limitations of parents and how they cannot control everything.
“But we talked a lot about that: what you can do as a parent, and what you can’t do,” he noted.

Rob and Michelle were found dead inside their Los Angeles apartment by their daughter Romy Rainer on December 14.
According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, Rob and Michelle’s causes of death were due to multiple blunt force injuries.
