Jesse Marsch, the coach of the Canadian national team, an American, presented a strong reprimand for President Donald Trump to the country that is likely to become the 51st state of the United States.
Speaking to correspondents on the media day in the Crach League League in Inglo, California, Marsh has described Trump’s continuous comments as “worrying and frankly insulting.”
“Canada is a strong and independent nation with a deepest decency, really, a place that appreciates the morals and higher respect,” said Marish.
The 51 -year -old Marsh, born in Wisconsin, has played 14 seasons in the main football league and has trained Canada since 2024.
“Unlike the polarized climate, unresolved and often from the climate that nourishes hatred in the United States, Canada appreciates fairness and unity. It is a place – I learned as a coach of the national team – where people believe that their differences make them stronger.”
“For me, at the present time, I could not be a coach of the Canadian national team and found a place that embodies the ideals and morals not only what football is but what life is – this is the integrity, respect and belief that good people can do great things together,” said Marish.
“If I have one message to our president, you will stop funny rhetoric about the fact that Canada is the 51st state. As an American, I feel shy about arrogance and ignorance because we have shown one of our oldest allies, oldest, oldest, stronger and most loyal.”
After the press conference, Don Ridel from CNN spoke to Marsh, who said he was “ready” to talk about the speech.
“Everything in the United States is a political charged, but for me, it comes to decency, about respecting neighbors, about respecting relationships, said Marish to CNN.
“There are many people in Canada very proud of what has been established and very proud to be very Canadian. I have a real respect for what this means and certainly being the national team coach, and I understand that I have the responsibility to represent that and make sure that we are with everything we do, and specifically through playing, we represent everything in the country.”
Marsh has sparked his right to freedom of expression when asked about the possible reaction from Trump.
“We have all the right to speak. This is one of the basic rights of being an American. Therefore, I certainly hope that everyone is still – you do not even agree with me – and this is where we are in America, with culture, politics, and social relations – there is a lot of glass and there is not enough respect and mutual understanding that they are Americans, part of the basic right is the right to difference.”
Marish laughed when Ridel asked him if he believed Trump would respond to his comments.
“I do not know him personally. I just saw from afar like anyone else. There are some things that I agree with, there is something that I do not agree with. I think I just made it clear what I felt about this idea about State 51. He does not belong to the speech and Canada deserves much more.”
Political tensions between the United States and Canada were strained to the world of sports last month. After the Canadian fans screaming the American national anthem during the American Professional League games and NHL, the friction reached a boiling point in the fourth Nations confrontation championship for this month.
The political situation caused by the provocative statements made by Trump towards the northern and southern neighbors in the United States is more critical in football, given that the United States of America, Mexico and Canada are participating in hosting the 2026 World Cup.
The director of Mexico, Javier, has weighing continuous tensions in sport.
“I am also the son of the immigrants,” said change. “It is not easy to leave your country in search of a better life for your family and it is not easy. I remember that I have suffered from the post -war period, and this is happening here, so I specify a lot with those people who came here looking for a life, the American dream. I always respect while I am grateful for support.”
“I have been doing it for nearly 50 years, and I will continue to do so. I have great respect for these Mexicans, the children of Mexicans and the grandchildren from the Mexicans here, who support us, and at least – give them joy that day. So the rest, no – for me I have no ability to talk about or power.
“Although for me it is the Gulf of Mexico, it is clear, by the way,” he said, he said, he said, he said, He tried to try the Trump administration to rename the water of the water in the Gulf of America.
Marsch quickly agreed to Aguirre’s comments.
The CONCAF State Association will dig Canada against Mexico on March 20, while the national team for the American men will play the role of Panama. The United States and Canada can meet in the final on March 23 at the Sophie Stadium in Englo.
“There is one certain thing, when I look forward to a month from now, this will fuel our team, the mentality we have, and the will that we have to play for the sake of our country, and the desire that we have to chase in this tournament in every way and appear on the field exactly what the Canadian personality is. Marich said:” I guarantee that our team is ready. ”
