Wolfsburg completes the double over Freiburg
Wolfsburg knocked Freiburg out of the cup with a 3-1 win last month, and a similar result was repeated on Friday at the AOK Stadion. Freiburg took the lead in the second half, but the Wolves came back strong in the second half to achieve their fourth successive win in all competitions.
Wolfsburg’s top scorer, Linneth Bernstein, is currently on the bench, but Alexandra Pope scored her seventh league goal of the season after missing the game before the international break due to injury. Wolfsburg will also be in Madrid in midweek for a tough Champions League match against Real Madrid.

Essen emerges from the relegation zone with a big win
SGS Essen’s first home win of the season was enough to see the club, which has made a name sponsoring many of Germany’s current internationals, climb out of the red. Right-back Vanessa Forrest and substitute Leonie Kopp scored in their 2-0 win over newly promoted Nuremberg.
Meanwhile, Bremen and Leverkusen won their matches to remain in the top four. Germany Under-23s player Larissa Mulhouse scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot in Bremen’s win over cellar-dwellers Carl Zeiss Jena.
Mulhouse has scored 30 goals for HSV and Bremen in the past two seasons, and is now top scorer in the Bundesliga with eight goals, alongside Leverkusen’s Vanessa Fudala and Köln’s Sandra Jessen.
