Refreshes
We may be past the worst of this, people
I think we may come out on the other side of this massive AWS outage that affected a lot of gaming services for everyone.
Downdetector charts across almost all major gaming storefronts, platforms, and platforms are showing downward trends, and we here at TechRadar are hitting a number of them ourselves right now.
Fingers crossed that the worst is over.
Roblox appears to have recovered
While the official Roblox
It also has a significant downtrend on Downdetector which means things are looking good for the hugely popular gaming platform.
The same goes for the lost ship…
Unsurprisingly, the same applies to Amazon’s other big game, Lost Ark, where the official X/Twitter account makes an almost identical statement acknowledging the problems.
If you play Amazon games, you might be hit hard…
Perhaps somewhat predictably, if you’re someone who plays Amazon games, you seem to be getting hit hard right now.

Oof! Wardle is back…
Wordle was hit hard by an AWS outage earlier, but it appears to be back online now.
Although the page itself — hosted on the New York Times’ gaming site — has loaded, it won’t allow users to log in, meaning they won’t be able to expand their all-important lines.
The site now appears to be working normally, so you can go ahead and get your daily fix. (And if you need help, be sure to check out our website Today’s Wordle page for hints and game discussion.)
Thanks for the above update to our global editor-in-chief and Wordle wizard, Mark McLaren!
You can’t go fast now in Sonic…
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds was also affected by the AWS outage, with my colleague Rhys sharing this screenshot showing the connection to the server failing.
Update from AWS
We have an update from AWS!
AWS said at 2.27am PST (10.27am GMT):
“We are seeing significant signs of recovery. Most applications should now be successful. We are continuing to work through the backlog of applications in the queue. We will continue to provide additional information.”
Fingers crossed that means we’ve now reached the end of this…
PS network looks good…
In slightly better news, the PlayStation Network appears to be fine – at least for me and many others, although there have been some reports of outages.
However, from my testing, the Store, Games, PS Direct and all my accounts were fine – thankfully.
fortnite The crash is associated with Epic’s own storefront failing to load or allow me to sign in online.
The error screen above is what I’m getting and what I’ve been experiencing all morning…
Fortnite has been greatly affected
One of the world’s biggest games affected by AWS outage: fortnite Currently disabled for many.
My colleague Reese just sent me the above screenshot showing that he can’t log into the game at all.
The error reads: “Unable to sign in to your account for online services. Please try again later.”
Gaming services have been hit by a massive AWS outage
A massive issue with Amazon Web Services (AWS) started earlier this morning at around 7.30am GMT (2.30am ET) and has seen a whole host of streaming and gaming services experience outages and outright failures.
This would be huge today as millions of players try to play online or hit storefronts every day. Now, we can see that Proverbs fortnite, Roblox, wordthe Epic Game Store — and more — have been affected.
Let’s do the rounds and see what the state of play is and if there is any solution in sight.
