Tennis legend Martina Navratilova has expressed strong support for the advocacy of women’s activist Jean -Hachtit to boycott the upcoming ICC Cup match between England and Afghanistan. Navratilova condemned the England and Wales of Cricket (ECB) for not taking a fixed position against Taliban’s repressive policies towards women.
Activist and female writer Jean -Hachtit recently invited the European Central Bank to boycott the upcoming ICC Cup match between England and Afghanistan, to be held on February 26, 2025, in Lahore, Pakistan. It highlights the lack of criticism towards the Taliban due to their severe treatment of women and the minimum media audit of Afghanistan’s participation in the international cricket game.
“3 days have passed even if England against Afghanistan in the International Criminal Champions Cup. The match will protest against them on February 25.
Martina Navratilova expressed its strong support for Hachtit’s invitation to boycott the match. Navratilova shared the Hatcheet Publisher on X (previously Twitter), adding:
“Cowards. Cemeics are not defense for women in Afghanistan.”
Since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in August 2021, they have imposed strict restrictions on women’s rights, which effectively eradicated women from public life. Women are prevented from secondary and higher education, and are prevented from working in most sectors and restricted from public places such as gardens and gyms.
Martina Navratilova criticized the International Criminal Court for the alleged discrimination against the Afghan women’s chick
Martina Navratilova has described the leadership of the International Council (ICC), which is led by male to give priority to male athletes, while neglecting the cricket team in Afghanistan.
In June 2024, journalist Rav Nicholson condemned the International Criminal Court to allow him to the men’s team in Afghanistan internationally, while the women’s team was completely prevented from competing.
The 18 -time Grand Slame Singles champion has strengthened Nicholson’s concerns by sharing her tweet and the International Criminal Court condemnation to perpetuate gender inequality.
“A shame for all these men who continue to give male athletes every possible feature denies the same for mathematics,” wrote Martina Navratilova on X (Twitter).
Under Taliban’s rule, Afghanistan remains the only full nation of the International Criminal Court without an active women’s Cricket team, as the regime prevented women from playing in international cricket competitions.
