Louis Tomlinson broke his silence about the most difficult period in his life when he learned of the death of his close friend Liam Payne.
Payne died last year on October 16 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
In a recent podcast episode of Alban CEO podcast, Walls The singer has recounted the heartbreaking moment when he learned of Payne’s sudden death from bandmate Niall Horan.
“I found out through Niall,” he revealed, noting that he was “in the car, in Los Angeles” when he got the call.
the Two of us Croner expressed deep regret over not being able to help Payne, in the same way as his sister Felicity, who died at the age of 18 after overdosing on cocaine, anxiety medication and painkillers.
“I had the same feeling I had with Felicity,” he said. “And I think for anyone who suffers from this when they’re around someone who’s suffering, my 150% wasn’t nearly enough.”
Tomlinson admitted he once thought he could have helped Payne, calling it “my arrogance”. He went on to admit that Payne’s suffering was “much deeper than what I could have done for him.”
“He was definitely struggling at that time in his life,” Tomlinson added.
Following the tragedy, Tomlinson reunited with former One Direction member Zayn Malik. After several hangouts, the two signed a multi-million dollar deal to Netflix for a three-part documentary series reflecting on their time with Payne and his death.
It is expected to be released sometime in 2026.
