Shamet scored a career-high 36 points — 30 in the second half — in the win. His performance came at the perfect time for the Knicks, who were already playing without Jalen Brunson and lost OG Anunoby to a hamstring injury early in the contest.

Shamet has been a revelation for the Knicks off the bench so far this season after signing the team’s minimum in the offseason, averaging 10.0 points per game and shooting 44 percent from three-point range.

Shamet’s performance helped propel the Knicks to an 8-1 record at home to start the season. Shamet talked about the impact of the Madison Square Garden crowd, and how it helped cement his career night as the crowd chanted his name throughout MSG.

“I think these fans know I love them.” Al-Shamat said. “I’ll say it until I’m blue in the face. I love it. I love the energy every night.”
