Kevin Federline has revealed details of his child support agreement with his ex-wife, Britney Spears, after the contract expired last year.
In his upcoming memoirs I thought you knewFederline responds to long-standing claims that he lived off Spears’ fortune — insisting that her $40,000 monthly checks “didn’t stretch as far as you think.”
And in excerpts he obtained Us Weeklythe former backup dancer wrote that despite public perception, the child support and alimony payments he received after their 2006 divorce barely covered the costs of raising their two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, in Los Angeles.
He explains, “When Britney and I divorced, the court awarded me $20,000 a month in child support. At the same time, I was receiving alimony, and another $20,000 a month.” “People hear numbers like that and think you’re in good financial shape. But the reality is far from that.”
Maintaining security and a lifestyle similar to the one his sons lived with their mother “came at a price that would make anyone’s head spin,” says Federline, 47. “This money was gone as soon as it arrived,” he adds.
Spears, 43, made the final payment in November 2024, after Jaden, her youngest, turned 18 and graduated from high school.
But Federline insists it didn’t affect him because he was never an exploiter: “I wasn’t just a bum sitting around waiting for a check. I was out there hard at work, grinding, investing — building a solid foundation for myself and my kids.”
Ahead of the book’s release on October 21 Toxic The hitmaker responded to X, saying: “Those white lies in this book, they’re going straight to the bank and I’m the only one really hurting here.”
However, Federline insists that “money is not the root cause” of his memoir, adding: “If she has the right to tell her story, why shouldn’t I?”
