Katy Perry talks about why she released her new single First aidThe decision was not easy.
On November 9, the 41-year-old shared on Instagram that revealing the song took a lot of emotional work.
“Thank you for the love First aid. “Well, I struggled for months with the idea of putting this song out,” she says, admitting that “even after all these years, it can be scary to be vulnerable.”
Perry said she hopes the track will provide comfort to anyone experiencing similar heartbreak.
“I hope the lyrics of this song resonate with people who have gone through what I went through, and maybe they won’t feel so alone and will find the strength to keep going like I did.”
In the emotional chorus, she sings, “Hand to God, I promised, I tried / There’s no stone left unturned / It’s not what I did, it’s what you didn’t do / I was there, but you weren’t,” before adding, “I’m used to you letting me down / There’s no use trying to send flowers now / Telling myself you’ll change, and you won’t change / Bandages on a broken heart.”
Although Perry did not say who inspired the song, First aid It marks her first music release since ending her engagement with Orlando Bloom.
The couple, who had been together for almost 10 years, called off their wedding plans earlier this year.
A source said: “Katie and Orlando have broken up but are friendly.” Us Weekly At the time, she explained that Perry felt “relieved not to have to go through another divorce,” because her first divorce, from Russell Brand, had been so difficult.
Perry and Bloom are now focused on raising their 4-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove.
A second source noted that they “remain in close contact and are co-parenting Daisy together,” noting that Daisy has spent time with both parents recently, and Bloom has brought her along to join Perry on tour before traveling to Italy for Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s wedding.
While Perry continued her tour of a lifetime abroad, Bloom attended the lavish party in Venice. Despite the separation, things remain calm between the former spouses, who are keeping their daughter’s life stable.
