
in Goodbye June, Kate Winslet marks her directorial debut. But that wasn’t her original plan for the film.
First, says the actress Digital Spy That she was just looking forward to acting and producing the film.
“I know I’m a good multitasker, but it’s just too much stuff,” she told the outlet. “I tried desperately to reframe myself [and] I had a really good list of a bunch of people who would have been absolutely great in the role.
the Titanic The star continues, “But at that point…well, first of all, Netflix was like, ‘Ah,’ and secondly, I had cast all these amazing actors. How could I not go and play with them? Because that’s what we do. We play, we pretend, and it’s great.”
The film tells the story of a family; So, the Oscar-winning star says she did this scene while filming.
“I know it sounds a little sick, but we had to really become a family to make it feel as real and as relatable as possible,” she says. “You can’t just show up, do the job and come home again; it becomes something else. We were lucky on this movie that that actually happened.”
In addition to Kate, Goodbye June Stars Helen Mirren, Toni Collette, Johnny Flynn, Andrea Riseborough, and Timothy Spall, alongside Stephen Merchant, Fisayo Akinade, Jeremy Swift, and Reza Jaffrey.
The film has a limited theatrical release and will stream on Netflix on December 24.
