It is amazing for me on the basis, although it is not surprising to a party, that we have two Supreme Court judges who abused their role mainly, or worse than that, they simply do not care. At least Kagan is trying to keep up with appearances in her writings. Sotomayor and Brown-Jackson don’t care. They work routinely in ways to ignore any actual explanation of the law in favor of overcoming their ideals, as if they were politicians who spray his position. This opposition is no exception.
Sotomayor’s task is not to save any “constitutional freedoms” that you think are lost. It is its job to look at individual cases, and decide whether the plaintiff (the prosecutor) stands, then the ruling based on what is allowed technically under The current law. Sotomayor may think it is comfortable that Ice stops to perform immigration in California, but this is not related.
