‘It’s not our mess’: Erica Kirk speaks out about Jimmy Kimmel’s crude comments about her husband’s assassination

Turning Point USA (TPUSA) CEO Erika Kirk addressed public comments from ABC late night host Jimmy Kimmel about the assassination of her husband and TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk for the first time during an interview with Fox News host Jesse Watters that will air on Wednesday.

“We hit new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to paint this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of their own and doing everything they can to score political points out of him,” Kimmel said on the September 15 episode.

Erika told Kirk Watters that Sinclair Broadcasting reached out to her and asked if there could be any remedy for Kimmel’s comments.

He watches:

“Jimmy Kimmel lied about killing your husband and never really apologized,” Watters said in the advanced excerpt of the interview published by Fox News. “What would you say to Jimmy Kimmel?”

“I told Sinclair the same thing. They asked me, I haven’t really told anyone that, so they asked me: ‘Do you want Jimmy to apologize?’ Do you want to be on a show? How can we fix it? “I responded through our team, and I said, ‘Tell them thank you, we got their note. This is not our problem, and it’s not our mess. If you want to say I’m sorry to someone who’s grieving, do it. But if it’s not in your heart, don’t do it. I don’t want it. I don’t need it,'” Erica Kirk answered.

Erica Kirk did not respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Kimmel’s comment came after several people, including MSNBC political analyst Matthew Dowd and Washington Post columnist Karen Attia, were fired for comments that celebrated, mocked or justified Kirk’s assassination in various online social media outlets, especially on platforms like BlueSky.

Kimmel returned to the air on September 23, but did not apologize for the comments, claiming instead that he was not trying to “soften” Kirk’s assassination.

“I want to make something clear, because it’s important to me as a human being, and that is for you to realize that it was never my intention to make light of the killing of a young man,” Kimmel said. “I don’t think so. I don’t think there’s anything funny about it.” (RELATED: Jimmy Kimmel fails to apologize after being benched over Charlie Kirk comments)
