If you are looking to get away from Windows, there are a lot of alternative operating systems that must be observed – from a lot Linux distributions displayed to MacOS (if you are open to switch to Apple).
One of the most interesting options is the Reactos, which aims to be Windows, but without Microsoft – more specifically, it is designed to be the operating system that is compatible with Windows applications and operating programs, without using any Microsoft icon. Unlike Linux, which was built on the UNIX Foundation, Reactos re -implement the Windows NT structure from A to Z.
It targets compatibility with Windows Server 2003, yes 2003Although programs such as Libreoffice, Firefox and some old versions of Adobe Photoshop can be operated. Reactos compresses parts of the wine project and supports Linux 64 bit systems via Freeldua interest.
Four years in making
It was originally launched as FreeWin95 in the late 1990s, it developed into a reaction with the aim of becoming a real alternative to windows.
Today, Windows 2000 appears to be in appearance and jobs, although the compatibility is very successful and lost – some classic games and applications work completely well, while others are disrupted or absolutely failing.
The latest version named, the version 0.4.14, was released in December 2021, and since then the development has continued in APACE, where new buildings are produced automatically every time a change is committed, although these versions have not been tested in the same way as stable versions.
Now, four years after the last stable update appeared, Reactos 0.4.15 has arrived and you can download it as a click or LiveCD here.
The latest version provides delivery and operation repairs, sound repairs, memory management improvements, registry healing, improvements to accessories and system tools including notebook, paint, RAPPS and editor of the input method and shell.
You can also say from the version number, 0.4.15, Reactos is still in alpha, and it is likely to remain for a very long time.
You may never reach a house, not to mention the end of ever, but this does not mean that it does not deserve your time.
You will not want to use it as a daily driver, but take it to rotate Virtualbox It admires what the team can create here.
Reactos, although it is impressive for what it is, remains more than just a reactionary curiosity – but the team plans for some major additions to the next big version, which we hope will not reach another four years.
The planned future features include UEFI support, a new graphic fixation, a new NTFS system operating program, multiple multiple processing (SMP), power management, and broader application compatibility.
