Interstellar Voyageer 1 resumes operations after stopping contacts with NASA

NASA confirmed that after a stop in communications with Voyageer 1 in late October, the spacecraft regained its voice and resumed regular operations.

Voyageer turned out of an unexpectedly ranked radio transmission, known as X-BAND, before the weakest S-PAND transmission device operates in October.

The spacecraft between the stars is currently about 15.4 billion miles from Earth and the S-Band has not been used for more than 40 years.

The communication between NASA and Voyager 1 was sometimes intermittent, and the shift to the lower range has prevented Voyageer’s important team from downloading science data and information about the condition of the spacecraft.

Earlier this month, the team was able to reactivate the X-PAND transmission device and resume data from the four operating science data on the Voyageer 1.

Now that data can be collected and communications resume, engineers end some of the remaining tasks to return Voyageer 1 to the situation that existed before the problem appeared. One of the tasks is to reset the system that synchronizes the three computers on board Voyageer 1.

S-PAND was activated by the satellite vehicle protection system when engineers activated a heater on Voyageer 1. The fault protection system has identified that the probe did not have enough energy and turn off the systems that were not necessary to maintain the spacecraft in order to maintain energy saving to critical systems.

But in this process, investigations stopped all non-essential systems except for science tools, NASA said, and stopped the X and activates the S-BAND, which uses less power.
