Indiana’s Curt Cignetti received an 8-year deal worth about $93 million

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana State on Thursday announced a new eight-year contract with head football coach Curt Cignetti worth at least $92.8 million, rewarding him for propelling the Hoosiers to national championship contention in just two seasons.

Cignetti’s average annual compensation will be about $11.6 million and the contract runs through Nov. 30, 2033, the school said.

“At Indiana University, we are committed to performing at the highest levels in everything we do, and no one embodies that more than Coach Cignetti,” said University President Pamela Whitten. “Simply put, Cig is a winner.”

Cignetti is 17-2 since arriving from James Madison, with his only losses last season coming against Ohio State and Notre Dame teams that ended in the College Football Playoff Championship Game.

The Hoosiers advanced to the CFP for the first time last year and are on that path again this season with a 6-0 record (3-0 Big Ten) and a No. 3 national ranking, the highest in program history.
