IEEE Presidents Note: Preserving the effect of technology history

For most of its existence, which is more than 140 years, IEEE has been a pioneer in preserving the extent range of history behind the electrical, electronic, computing, and related technology fields that support modern society. This history displays an ongoing and dynamic cycle where scientific understanding understands innovation and technological developments that allow new ways to scientific exploration. This wonderful journey continues to bear enormous effects on our future. Organizations such as IEEE created an environment that leads to progress and development by facilitating the exchange of knowledge, developing standards, and calling for a sound general policy for progress in the end technology in favor of humanity.

Explore the contributions of the major characters, such as Michael Faradai And his discoveries in electromagnetic, and Grace HopperThe software queen, as well as the challenges that prevail over it, provides a valuable context for the current and future innovators.

A greater understanding and appreciation of the historical contributions of IEEE fields can participate in an open dialogue with the public to help build a more sustainable, efficient and technically advanced future. General confidence and participation is necessary for the continuation of progress and acceptance of technological developments. By reviewing successes and failures in the past, politics can expect the consequences of new developments of electrical engineering and develop policies that enhance innovation while ensuring public safety and environmental sustainability. Ethical considerations have always been inherent in technology development, and the study of historical challenges can provide valuable visions of mobility in similar dilemmas in emerging areas such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing.

History is a testament to the strength of human ingenuity and cooperation. By studying the development of electrical engineering, we can identify patterns, think about what has succeeded well and why, solving error analysis, and building on current knowledge to create new technologies.

From its inception, Iee had a place History CommitteeInterested in preserving the legacy and heritage of the organization, its members, professions and relevant techniques. the IEEE History Center It maintains, searches and enhances the legacy of electrical engineering and computing through its many programs.

presence IEEE teacher The dedication ceremony, which recognizes distinguished technical developments around the world, was happy for me. Visiting these important sites historically, as local volunteers worked with technical, historians and audience experts to celebrate the leading achievements and people behind them, really inspiring and testifying how technological innovation has benefited humanity. It is a great way to experience the history of technology alongside the IEEE community.

I had the opportunity this year to attend a reopening IEEE International MuseumWhich brings travel exhibitions that focus on the history of electricity technology to IEEE members and the public. The museum enhances awareness of how technological progress has evolved across generations and how engineers and researchers can take advantage of the previous achievements to improve the lives of peoples.

the IEEE history program It collects spoken memories and personal comments of historical importance through recorded interviews. There are approximately 900 interviews available on ethw.org. As IEEE president, I look forward to my participation in that.

IEEE access Provides pre -teachers for free resources that place science, technology and engineering in their social and human contexts. Resources provide students with an understanding of technologies, including how society is formed, and therefore, how society has formed them.

Maintaining the history of our profession is vital to enhancing innovation, inspiring future generations, enhancing cooperation, ensuring safe, sustainable and moral development of technology that will continue to form our world.

I encourage you to investigate all the programs and resources available in History.ieee.org.
