Alarms are annoying, even to the people who set them. If you can’t turn off the alarm quickly, you risk waking up others near you. When Apple released iOS 26.1 In November, the company made it a little more difficult to turn off your phone iPhone Alarm with new slider.
The change appears to be designed to prevent you from accidentally turning off your alarm too quickly with a single tap when reaching for your phone. But a slider can leave you stumbling out of bed trying to figure out why your alarm won’t turn off despite pressing the off button like you’ve done a thousand times in the past, all while your newborn is now awake and crying, and your spouse is awake and asking why the baby is crying.
In theory, that is.
Anyway, if you hate the notification slider like me, you can remove it and put the off button back on your device in a few easy steps.

Return your iPhone’s wake button
1. handle Settings.
2. handle accessibility.
3. handle touches.
4. Enable the switch for Prefer one-touch actions Near the bottom of the list.
Once enabled, you can tap the button on your screen, instead of using the slider, to stop the alarm. Enabling this toggle doesn’t appear to affect any other iPhone functionality at this time, but that may change in the future.
If you want to bring back the alert slider after disabling it, follow the steps above and disable the option Prefer one-touch actions Switch.
