George Clooney is suffering a major family loss

George Clooney has just remembered his sister after she died of cancer at the age of 65.

Adelia Zeidler, known to her family as Ada, died Friday with loved ones by her side at St. Elizabeth Healthcare of Kentucky.

the Ocean XI The star released an emotional statement praising his brother’s strength during her illness.

“My sister, Ada, was my hero,” he said. “She faced cancer with courage and humor.”

George added: “I have never met someone so brave. Amal and I will miss her terribly.”

Adelia was born in Los Angeles on May 2, 1960 to parents Nina and Nick, and was named after her great-grandmother.

Her obituary revealed that she was a valedictorian, receiving the National Legion of Merit during her school years.

The letter states: “A gifted artist, she shared her skills as an elementary art teacher at the Augusta Independent School District for several years. In high school, her academic achievements qualified her as a National Merit Scholar. Her love of reading connected her with other readers in the local book club. She was also a member of the Augusta Arts Guild and a past leader of the annual Augusta White Christmas Parade.”

Adelia married retired Army Captain Norman Zeidler in Augusta in 1987 and has largely kept a low profile, although she makes occasional appearances at family events.

The actor spoke about their close relationship during an interview with CBS This Morning In 2015.

“My sister, I’m very close to her,” George Clooney said at the time.
