The former captain of the Moroccan national team, Khaled Fouhami, revealed the secret behind the “Atlas Cubs” path to glory in the U-20 World Cup.
In the final match, Morocco will face Argentina in the early hours of Monday, to compete for the World Junior Championship title.
In an exclusive statement to Foot Africa, the former last line of defense for the Atlas Lions expressed his confidence in the chances of the junior team in this grand final.
I believe that our national team is well equipped to win the FIFA Junior World Cup for Africa for the second time, after Ghana’s victory in 2009. Aside from their outstanding technical skills, the players showed great fighting spirit throughout the tournament and seem more determined than ever to achieve a historic title for Morocco. Of course, Argentina is a formidable opponent, but I think the Moroccan team is superior, both tactically and physically. The key is to play with balance and try to plant seeds. The Albiceleste were in doubt, before unleashing the deadly weapon of rapid counter-attacks. Morocco must not waste this golden opportunity to assert its status as a new global football power.
